We are eight students from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, currently studying Visual Culture, and we are seeking your support to bring our final film to life.


Tune into Velvet Hour. A surreal exploration of power dynamics, patriarchy and
spectacle, revealing a system. How far can someone be pushed before they either break
or take control of the performance itself? This short film takes place in a out of time,
phony, world with a classic Hollywood feel. A young woman and an older male host.
She's excited to go on, but quickly notices weird, small things that make her realize she
has no power in this room. She wants to leave the room, but the space won't let her
escape. Does she join the performance or resist it? The pressure to perform and the
feeling of being watched and judged is bigger than ever, this short film is a commentary
on media and society and how they portray women.

What do we offer?
As we are student production our budget is small but we are able to offer 200 euro as well as travel and food covered for these two days!

The Host is charming in a hollow way. He has done this for so long that there is almost nothing human left in the performance. He has the smoothness of someone who has never had to question his own authority.
He is the face of the institution: polished, preserved, and empty.
