The current budget of €2.44 billion threatens to be swallowed up by a broader MEDIA+ programme of €3.2 billion that also includes the news media sector, thereby jeopardizing support for the film sector. The organisations call on the European Parliament to preserve the core identity of the programme and to explicitly reintroduce the term "film" so that the audiovisual sector remains clearly distinct from broader media sectors.
