The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), running from September 4th to 14th, has unveiled its Discovery section with 23 world premieres. This section highlights emerging talent and underrepresented regions. Among the films are "Julian" by Belgian director Cato Kusters and "Laundry" by Zamo Mkhwanazi, a South African-Swiss co-production. Also notable is "The Man in My Basement" by British filmmaker Nadia Latif, a film adaptation of a book by Walter Mosley. The section has a history of launching successful filmmakers' careers.
