The 82nd Venice Film Festival, which takes place from August 27 to September 6, 2025, has announced an impressive selection of films. Directors such as Yorgos Lanthimos, Kathryn Bigelow, and Guillermo del Toro are vying for the Golden Lion. Lanthimos will present his film Bugonia, and del Toro will present his Netflix horror Frankenstein. Kabul, Between Prayers by Aboozar Amini will be screened out of competition. A total of 21 films are in competition, six of which are directed by women. In addition, fifteen documentaries have been selected out of competition.
