Films that use artificial intelligence (AI) will remain eligible for Oscars, under new rules from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The use of AI or other digital tools will not affect a film’s chances of being nominated. This follows discussions about AI in films, such as Adrien Brody’s Oscar-winning role in “The Brutalist,” where AI enhanced his accent, and the musical “Emilia Pérez,” which used voice clones. AI has previously led to strikes in Hollywood.
